The Justice department will not file charges against Darren Wilson

After months of investigation and the FBI and Justice department are nearly ready to announce that Darren Wilson will not be charged with a crime in the death of Mike Brown. Of course we all knew that would be the case, since an independent, unbiased grand jury (made up of citizens, not police officers) determined there would be no charges to file.

Undoubtedly this federal investigation cost the tax payers a lot of money. How many people were on this, and for more than half a year at that? Did it cost us $1 million? Can we bill Obama and Holder for this gross misuse of federal funds?
Justice Department lawyers will recommend that no civil rights charges be brought against the police officer who fatally shot an unarmed teenager in Ferguson, Mo., after an F.B.I. investigation found no evidence to support charges, law enforcement officials said Wednesday.
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and his civil rights chief, Vanita Gupta, will have the final say on whether the Justice Department will close the case against the officer, Darren Wilson. But it would be unusual for them to overrule the prosecutors on the case, who are still working on a legal memo explaining their recommendation.
A decision by the Justice Department would bring an end to the politically charged investigation of Mr. Wilson in the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown. The Missouri authorities concluded their investigation into Mr. Brown’s death in November and also recommended against charges.
Of course I know they won't be held accountable. In fact, the unthinking masses will probably praise them, exclaiming the virtues of their effort to uphold a high standard of accountability, at the same time condemning Darren Wilson for the "murder" of "innocent" Mike Brown.

Here on my blog I have been vocal about the growth of the police state and my distaste for violence initiated on the behalf of the state. Not so for what happened in Ferguson. We all know Mike Brown was a violent criminal. He brought his demise on himself through his lifestyle, his attitude, and his actions. No one wants their children to be killed, but I'd wager no one wants admit it when their children turn out to be criminals either.

Like Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown's death was not a tragedy. His life was a tragedy.
